A note from Pauline

I cooked school dinners for over thirty years, love, and before that I learned it all in my mum's kitchen, on one wage with six mouths to feed. None of it was written down. It was in her hands.

So I've written it down properly. The amounts, the oven, the bits that go wrong and how to put them right. And for one or two, because that's how most of us cook now.

Pop the kettle on and have a look through. I think you'll find your mum in here somewhere.

Questions

Before you buy

Is a paper book posted to me?

No. It's a digital book (a PDF). It opens straight after you pay, and the link comes to your email too. Read it on a phone, tablet or computer, or print it at home, all of it or just the pages you want.

I'm not good with computers. Will I manage?

If you can open an email, you can open this book. You tap the link and the book opens. If you get stuck, write to hello@mrshaigh.com and a real person helps.

I only cook for one. Is it for me?

Yes. The main meals give the amounts for one, two and four, so there's no dividing in your head at the cooker. Baking comes in half and full batches.

I don't live in the UK. Will it work?

Yes. Ounces are given with grams, and the oven with gas mark, °C and fan. The ingredients are ordinary ones.

What if it isn't for me?

You have 30 days. Email hello@mrshaigh.com and we'll give you your money back.

Anything else? Write to hello@mrshaigh.com.
